 Privacy Policy

Every person participating in a program sponsored by Bellflower Center has the right to expect that what is said individually or in a group will remain confidential. Likewise, consumers are entitled to anonymity regarding their participation in any Bellflower Center program, unless they personally choose to disclose the information, subject to
Federal and State laws regarding this information.

 

Bellflower Center respects the confidentiality of our consumers and of their health information. Bellflower Center will protect such information in a responsible and professional manner. The privacy policy and practices of Bellflower Center protects confidential health information that identifies, or could be used to identify an individual as it relates to a physical or mental health condition or the payment of health care expenses. 

 

The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) requires health care providers to maintain policies and practices to protect the confidentiality of their consumers’ health information. The Notice of Privacy Practices provided to consumers during the intake process is intended to satisfy HIPAA’s requirement with respect to all health information created, received, or maintained by Bellflower Center for Prevention of Child Abuse, Inc.

 

In order to provide mental health services, Bellflower Center needs to create, receive, and maintain records that contain health information about consumers. The Notice of Privacy Practices provided to consumers describes in detail how Bellflower Center may use and disclose health information; the obligations Bellflower Center has regarding the use and disclosure of health information and rights of consumers with regard to their health information.
